The BioEco Work Group was chartered in 1997 by the Committee on Environment
and Natural Resources (CENR) Subcommittee on Ecological Systems (SES) to improve
coordination of Federal Biodiversity and Ecosystem informatics activities and
to provide a recognized, high level focal point for those activities.
The charter charged the work group with the following:
- Design a framework fo a National Biological Infrastructure (NBII)
- Provide a focal point for Federal, intergovernmental, and public-private
partnerships
- Provide a focal point between Federal Programs and the PCAST Biodiversity
and Ecosystems Panel
- Provide a focal point for coordination with international programs and
organizations
- Advise the Subcomittee on Ecological Systems (SES)
