The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) was established by Congress in 1965 as a federal/state partnership to support sustainable development in the Appalachian geographic region.

Grants program – the ARC offers several grants and training programs which can be used to assist regional cooperatives of develop sustainable economic enterprises compatible with protection of the environment.

BioEco Work Group Activities

The BioEco work group meets several times a year to carry out its chartered missions. The work group also sponsors workshops and other fora to promote understanding of the issues and technologies pertinent to biodiversity and ecosystems informatics.
