Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) leads the nation's environmental science, research, education and assessment efforts. EPA also works to develop and enforce regulations implementing environmental laws enacted by Congress.

American Indian Environmental Office (AIEO) - The AIEO coordinates the Agency-wide effort to strengthen public health and environmental protection in Indian Country, with a special emphasis on building Tribal capacity to administer their own environmental programs.

Chesapeake Bay Program Office (CBPO): - The CBPO is a regional partnership that has led and directed the restoration of the Chesapeake Bay since 1983.

Clean Lakes Program - The Clean Lakes Program was established to provide financial and technical assistance to States in restoring publicly-owned lakes.

National Estuary Program - EPA’s National Estuary Program was established to improve the quality of estuaries of national importance.

Environmental Indicators Initiative - Improves the Agency's ability to report on the status of and trends in environmental conditions and their impacts on human health and the nation's natural resources. The Initiative also identifies where additional research, data quality improvements, and information are needed.

Office of Environmental Information (OEI) - OEI helps ensure that EPA collects high quality environmental information and makes it available to the American public. It provides guidance to assist the agency about the way it collects, manages, analyzes and provides/allows access to environmental information.

Exchange Network Grant Program - Provides funding to states, territories, and Federally Recognized Indian tribes to support the development of the Environmental Information Exchange Network.

Great Lakes National Program - Oversees and helps all Great Lakes stakeholders work together in an integrated, ecosystem approach to protect, maintain, and restore the chemical, biological, and physical integrity of the Great Lakes.

Technical and Scientific Assistance - EPA provides technical assistance to its partner countries and to multilateral organizations through training courses, technology transfer, sharing of environmental data and information, and environmental education initiatives.

Watershed Protection Approach - The Watershed Protection Approach is a strategy for effectively protecting and restoring aquatic ecosystems and protecting human health.

Wetlands Program – Focuses on the protection, monitoring and assessment, and restoration of wetlands.

BioEco Work Group Activities

The BioEco work group meets several times a year to carry out its chartered missions. The work group also sponsors workshops and other fora to promote understanding of the issues and technologies pertinent to biodiversity and ecosystems informatics.
