National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) administers the U.S. space exploration program, as well as numerous earth-focused remote sensing and research initiatives. NASA provides data later used by resource managers and policy makers in decision making.

Earth Observatory : Provides NASA satellite and research data for use over the Internet, with a special emphasis on climate and environmental change.

Earth Science Data and Information System : comprehensive data and information system that includes data from NASA’s past and current Earth science research satellites and field measurement programs, and provides data archive, distribution, and information management services.

Science Mission Directorate : seeks to understand, assess, and forecast changes to the health of the Earth System by satellite-based research of Earth's atmosphere, oceans, ice, land cover, and biosphere; supports decision support systems of partner agencies and institutions that use of NASA data products; forecasts change using global climate models and other models; and participates in integrated regional and global assessments.

BioEco Work Group Activities

The BioEco work group meets several times a year to carry out its chartered missions. The work group also sponsors workshops and other fora to promote understanding of the issues and technologies pertinent to biodiversity and ecosystems informatics.
